CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Average rate = 114012000×100=9.5%\frac{1140}{12000} \times 100 = 9.5\%.

  2. 8% part : 12% part = (12−9.5):(9.5−8)=2.5:1.5=5:3(12 - 9.5) : (9.5 - 8) = 2.5 : 1.5 = 5 : 3.

  3. Amount at 8%=58×12000=75008\% = \frac{5}{8} \times 12000 = 7500 rupees.

Worth noting

₹4,500 is the amount at 12% (the ratio reversed). Check: 8% of 7,500+12% of 4,500=600+5408\% \text{ of } 7{,}500 + 12\% \text{ of } 4{,}500 = 600 + 540 = ₹1,140.
