CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Divisible by 12 means divisible by both 3 and 4.

  2. For 3: 5+2+A+8=15+A5 + 2 + A + 8 = 15 + A must be a multiple of 3, so A is 0, 3, 6 or 9.

  3. For 4: the last two digits A8 must be divisible by 4; 38 is not, 68 is. (4 and 5 already fail the test for 3.)

  4. So A=6A = 6 (5,268=12×439)(5{,}268 = 12 \times 439).

Worth noting

Divisibility by 12 needs the co-prime pair 3 and 4, not 2 and 6: 2 and 6 overlap.
