CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Take CP = ₹100: MP = ₹135, SP = 80% of ₹135 = ₹108.

  2. So the profit is 8% of CP.

  3. 8% of CP = ₹96, so CP = 968×100=1200\frac{96}{8} \times 100 = 1200, that is ₹1,200.

Worth noting

₹640 uses 35%−20%=15%35\% - 20\% = 15\% as the profit rate. The real profit rate is 8%. ₹1,296 is the SP.
