CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Let the present ages be 2x and 7x.

  2. 2x−67x−6=15\frac{2x - 6}{7x - 6} = \frac{1}{5} gives 10x−30=7x−610x - 30 = 7x - 6, so x=8x = 8.

  3. Mother's present age = 56, so in 4 years she will be 60.

Worth noting

56 is her age now; the question asks for her age 4 years from now.
