CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. Innermost: 5−6=−15 - 6 = -1.

  2. Curly bracket: 4−(−1)=4+1=54 - (-1) = 4 + 1 = 5.

  3. Square bracket: 3−5=−23 - 5 = -2.

  4. Finally 2−(−2)=2+2=42 - (-2) = 2 + 2 = 4.

Worth noting

A minus sign in front of a bracket flips every sign inside it. Opening 4−(5−6)4 - (5 - 6) as 4−5−64 - 5 - 6 is the slip that leads to −8-8.
