Options for question 20

CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Nikhil's whole job: 5×3=155 \times 3 = 15 days, rate 115\frac{1}{15}.

  2. Pooja's whole job: 8×52=208 \times \frac{5}{2} = 20 days, rate 120\frac{1}{20}.

  3. Together: 115+120=4+360=760\frac{1}{15} + \frac{1}{20} = \frac{4+3}{60} = \frac{7}{60} per day.

  4. Time = 607=847\frac{60}{7} = 8\frac{4}{7} days.

Worth noting

Convert each part-job into a full-job rate first. 13 days just adds the 5 and 8 days given.
