CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. The line crosses the xx-axis at x=3x = 3: it is above the axis for 0≤x<30 \le x < 3 and below it for 3<x≤53 < x \le 5.

  2. ∫03(3−x) dx+∣∫35(3−x) dx∣=92+2=132\int_0^{3} (3 - x)\,dx + \left\lvert \int_3^{5} (3 - x)\,dx \right\rvert = \frac{9}{2} + 2 = \frac{13}{2} square units.

Worth noting

52\frac{5}{2} is ∫05(3−x) dx\int_0^{5} (3 - x)\,dx in one go: the part below the axis comes out negative and cancels 2 of the part above.
