Question 12

MediumOriginal question

What is ddx∫x5(t3+1) dt\frac{d}{dx}\int_x^5 (t^3 + 1)\,dt?

Options for question 12

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. ∫x5f(t) dt=−∫5xf(t) dt\int_x^5 f(t)\,dt = -\int_5^x f(t)\,dt, and ddx∫5xf(t) dt=f(x)\frac{d}{dx}\int_5^x f(t)\,dt = f(x).

  2. So the derivative is −(x3+1)-(x^3 + 1).

Worth noting

x3+1x^3 + 1 forgets that xx is the lower limit, which turns the sign.
