CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. 2x=A(x+3)+B(x+1)2x = A(x + 3) + B(x + 1): x=−1x = -1 gives −2=2A-2 = 2A, A=−1A = -1; x=−3x = -3 gives −6=−2B-6 = -2B, B=3B = 3.

  2. ∫(−1x+1+3x+3)dx=3log⁡∣x+3∣−log⁡∣x+1∣+C\int \left(-\frac{1}{x + 1} + \frac{3}{x + 3}\right)dx = 3\log|x + 3| - \log|x + 1| + C.

Worth noting

Swapping AA and BB puts the 3 on the wrong factor; put each root back in to check.
