The four Labour Codes come into force

All four Labour Codes came into force on 21 November 2025, replacing 29 central labour laws.

On 21 November 2025 the government brought all four Labour Codes into force: the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. Together they replace 29 central labour laws, many framed between the 1930s and the 1950s.

Among the changes: appointment letters become mandatory, a minimum wage applies to all workers, social security reaches gig, platform and inter-state migrant workers, and women may work in all sectors, night shifts included. Parliament had passed the codes in 2019 and 2020; November 2025 is when they took effect.

Export Promotion Mission: ₹25,060 crore, two sub-schemes

The Cabinet approved the ₹25,060 crore Export Promotion Mission on 12 November 2025, with sub-schemes Niryat Protsahan and Niryat Disha.

On 12 November 2025 the Union Cabinet approved the Export Promotion Mission, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, with an outlay of ₹25,060 crore for 2025-26 to 2030-31.
