CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Write the loss as −10% and apply alligation to −10% and +15% around +5%.

  2. Phone : tablet = (15−5)(15 - 5) : (5−(−10))=10:15=2:3(5 - (-10)) = 10 : 15 = 2 : 3.

  3. Phone = 25×8000=3200\frac{2}{5} \times 8000 = 3200 rupees.

Worth noting

Check: −10% of 3,200=−320-10\% \text{ of } 3{,}200 = -320 and +15% of 4,800 = +720, net +400=5% of 8,000400 = 5\% \text{ of } 8{,}000. ₹4,800 is the tablet's cost.
