CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. The customer takes 4 pairs and is billed for 3: the fraction paid is 3/43/4.

  2. The extra 10% off leaves 90% of that bill.

  3. Fraction paid = 34×0.9=0.675\frac{3}{4} \times 0.9 = 0.675.

  4. Effective discount = 1−0.675=32.5%1 - 0.675 = 32.5\%.

Worth noting

Adding 25%+10%=35%25\% + 10\% = 35\% overstates it. The extra 10% is taken on the reduced bill, not on the full value. 67.5% is the part paid, not the discount.
