CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. Required SP = 1.08 × ₹1,000 = ₹1,080.

  2. Fraction paid after both discounts = 0.8×0.9=0.720.8 \times 0.9 = 0.72.

  3. MP = ₹1,080 ÷ 0.72 = ₹1,500.

  4. MP is ₹500 above cost, that is 50%.

Worth noting

38% (8%+20%+10%)(8\% + 20\% + 10\%) is the trap, and 30% forgets the profit altogether. The discounts are on the MP, so divide the target SP by 0.72.
