Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Put both positions on the same scale. Meera is 15th from the right, so from the left she is 40−15+1=2640 - 15 + 1 = 26th.

  2. Ravi is 12th from the left.

  3. The students strictly between positions 12 and 26 are those from 13 to 25, which is 26−12−1=1326 - 12 - 1 = 13 students.

Worth noting

Subtracting 1 is what distinguishes "between them" from "from one to the other". The 14 on offer is the count that includes one of the two named students.
