CorrectNot quiteAnswer D

Correct answer: D

Explanation

  1. For 3 years, CI − SI = P(R100)2(3+R100)P\left(\frac{R}{100}\right)^2\left(3 + \frac{R}{100}\right).

  2. = 8000×1100×3.1=80×3.1=2488000 \times \frac{1}{100} \times 3.1 = 80 \times 3.1 = 248.

  3. Check: CI = 8,000×1.331−8,0008{,}000 \times 1.331 - 8{,}000 = ₹2,648; SI = ₹2,400; difference = ₹248.

Worth noting

₹80 is the 2-year difference and ₹240 simply triples it. The 3-year formula has the extra R/100R/100 because interest is also earned on interest-on-interest.
