CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. The curve meets the line where x=x−2\sqrt{x} = x - 2, at (4,2)(4, 2); the line meets the xx-axis at (2,0)(2, 0).

  2. Horizontal strips run from the curve x=y2x = y^{2} to the line x=y+2x = y + 2: ∫02(y+2−y2) dy=2+4−83=103\int_0^{2} (y + 2 - y^{2})\,dy = 2 + 4 - \frac{8}{3} = \frac{10}{3} square units.

Worth noting

163\frac{16}{3} is the whole area under the curve up to x=4x = 4; the triangle of area 2 under the line is not part of the region.
