Options for question 47

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. ∫dxa2−x2=sin⁡−1xa+C\int \frac{dx}{\sqrt{a^2 - x^2}} = \sin^{-1}\frac{x}{a} + C.

  2. With a=5a = 5: sin⁡−1x5+C\sin^{-1}\frac{x}{5} + C.

Worth noting

Unlike the tan⁡−1\tan^{-1} form, this one has no factor 1a\frac{1}{a} in front.

Concept
The standard integral of 1/√(a² − x²)
