CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. 3x+1(x−1)(x+1)=Ax−1+Bx+1\frac{3x + 1}{(x - 1)(x + 1)} = \frac{A}{x - 1} + \frac{B}{x + 1}: x=1x = 1 gives 4=2A4 = 2A, x=−1x = -1 gives −2=−2B-2 = -2B, so A=2A = 2, B=1B = 1.

  2. ∫(2x−1+1x+1)dx=2log⁡∣x−1∣+log⁡∣x+1∣+C\int \left(\frac{2}{x - 1} + \frac{1}{x + 1}\right)dx = 2\log|x - 1| + \log|x + 1| + C.

Worth noting

Swapping AA and BB puts the 2 on the wrong factor; put each root back in to check.
