Question 4

EasyOriginal question

Evaluate ∫2x dx\int 2^{x}\,dx.

Options for question 4

Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer C

Correct answer: C

Explanation

  1. ddxax=axlog⁡a\frac{d}{dx}a^{x} = a^{x}\log a, so ∫ax dx=axlog⁡a+C\int a^{x}\,dx = \frac{a^{x}}{\log a} + C.

  2. With a=2a = 2: 2xlog⁡2+C\frac{2^{x}}{\log 2} + C.

Worth noting

2xlog⁡22^{x}\log 2 is the derivative of 2x2^{x}, not its integral.
