CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. The numerator sec⁡2x\sec^2 x is the derivative of the denominator 1+tan⁡x1 + \tan x.

  2. With t=1+tan⁡xt = 1 + \tan x: ∫dtt=log⁡∣t∣=log⁡∣1+tan⁡x∣+C\int \frac{dt}{t} = \log|t| = \log|1 + \tan x| + C.

Worth noting

−11+tan⁡x-\frac{1}{1 + \tan x} would be the answer for sec⁡2x(1+tan⁡x)2\frac{\sec^2 x}{(1 + \tan x)^2}, with the denominator squared.
