CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. Hypotenuse = 152+202=625=25\sqrt{15^2 + 20^2} = \sqrt{625} = 25 cm.

  2. Area = 12×15×20=150\frac{1}{2} \times 15 \times 20 = 150 cm², and also 12×25×h\frac{1}{2} \times 25 \times h.

  3. So h=15×2025=12h = \frac{15 \times 20}{25} = 12 cm.

Worth noting

12.5 cm is half the hypotenuse, which is the MEDIAN to the hypotenuse, not the altitude. The altitude is always shorter.

Concept
Altitude to the hypotenuse = product of legs ÷ hypotenuse
