Show the answer and explanation
CorrectNot quiteAnswer B

Correct answer: B

Explanation

  1. Write the numbers as 24a and 24b with a and b co-prime.

  2. 24(a+b)=14424(a + b) = 144, so a+b=6a + b = 6.

  3. Pairs with sum 6: (1, 5), (2, 4), (3, 3). Only (1, 5) is co-prime.

  4. So there is exactly 1 pair: 24 and 120.

Worth noting

(48, 96) adds to 144 but has HCF 48, and (72, 72) has HCF 72, so they do not count.
