CorrectNot quiteAnswer A

Correct answer: A

Explanation

  1. The stone pushes up water equal to its own volume.

  2. Rise in level = 23.5−20=3.523.5 - 20 = 3.5 cm.

  3. Stone volume = 50×40×3.5=7,00050 \times 40 \times 3.5 = 7{,}000 cm³.

Worth noting

40,000 cm³ is the water that was already there, 47,000 cm³ is water plus stone, and 13,000 cm³ is the space still empty above the water.
